In this segment, the owner of Ohio Basement Systems, Mike Rusk answers a question about water seepage. An individual is experiencing water build up in the basement, and she is curious to know where it's coming from.
Mike explains that when a home is built, the contractor or builder will install a drainage system around the exterior of the foundation. This area against the foundation walls is the where water will collect naturally, creating an excessive amount of hydrostatic pressure. If the drain pipe on the outside of the foundation is clogged, the pressure will continue to grow until the water can force its way into the basement space.
The bottom line, as Mike says, is that this seeping water is a direct result of a clogged drainage system, typically caused by the accumulation of mud within the pipe.
